Privacy Policy

The short version

Background removal happens inside your browser. Your images are never uploaded to us, never stored, never reviewed, and never used to train anything. There is no account system, so we hold no personal profile about you.

1. What happens to your images

When you select an image, it is read into your browser's memory, processed by a machine-learning model that is also running in your browser, and the result is offered back to you as a download. No image data is transmitted to our servers. No image is written to a database, a log, or an analytics service.

You can verify this without taking our word for it. Open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network panel while you remove a background, and you will see no request that contains your image. Alternatively, disconnect from the internet after the tool has loaded once and repeat the process: it still works, because the processing is local.

2. What our servers do see

This is a static website. When you visit, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) serves the page files and the page requests the AI model files. That involves standard web request metadata: your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, the requested URL and a timestamp. This metadata is handled by our hosting provider to deliver the files, keep the service available and protect against abuse. It is not linked to any image, because no image is ever sent.

3. The AI model download

The first time you use the tool, your browser downloads the model weights from the public Hugging Face CDN. That request does not include your image. It does reveal your IP address and user-agent to that CDN as a normal web request. The model is then cached locally on your device so later visits do not re-download it.

4. Analytics

This deployment has no analytics service enabled. We do not run any third-party tracking or measurement scripts. If that changes, this section will be updated before the change ships.

5. Advertising

This deployment currently shows no advertising. If advertising is introduced later, it will be labelled, placed away from the tool controls so that it cannot be mistaken for part of the interface, and it will never receive image data.

6. Cookies and local storage

We do not set our own cookies and we do not use cookie-based tracking. Your export preferences (background, output format) may be stored in your browser's localStorage so the tool remembers your last choice; that value never leaves your device and contains no personal information. The AI model and site assets are stored in the browser's cache so the tool loads quickly and works offline. You can clear all of this at any time through your browser's "clear site data" option.

7. No server-side fallback

There is no server-side processing path. This tool has no upload endpoint, and we do not operate a fallback service that receives images. If such a feature is ever introduced, this policy will be updated before it ships and it will describe exactly what is transmitted, to whom, for how long it is retained, and how to delete it. The browser-based path will always remain the default and will never transmit your image.

8. Exported files

Exported images are generated locally. Because the image is re-encoded in the browser, embedded metadata such as EXIF camera information and GPS location is not carried into the download. This is a privacy benefit, but it also means your downloaded file will not retain an ICC colour profile, so keep in mind that colours are rendered in sRGB.

9. Your rights

Because we do not collect personal data about you and hold no account, there is no profile for us to export, correct, or delete on your behalf. All data the tool produces lives in your own browser and can be removed with your browser's clear-site-data controls.

10. Children

This tool is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

11. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change with it. Material changes, particularly any that would affect whether image data is transmitted, will be described in plain language rather than buried in a revision list.
